As club cyclists we spend hours training to improve our fitness and performance; but the approach needed to win crits at Hog Hill or Crystal Palace is very different from that required to get a sub 8 hour time at the Marmotte, and most of us lack an understanding of how best to structure our training over a season.

Dan Henchy from PBscience specialises in endurance physiology and has kindly agreed to talk through the background and issues relating to better targeting of training to achieve results. In this session he'll touch on exercise physiology, the limitations to our performance, different types of cycling fitness, approaches to training for specific results, what makes a good training plan and how such plans and coaching can help a club cyclist. Dan will also bring along a mobile testing lab used to measure a cyclist's physiology and output.

Dan is a coach at PBScience, a coaching service based upon up to date research and scientifically proved rationale. He's currently preparing for his PhD in monitoring long term training trends and their relation to performance.

These talks are organised by London Phoenix and open to all London-based club cyclists.
This is a free event but places are limited and we'll also be inviting other clubs, so please sign up if you’d like to attend. If you have any questions please contact speakers@londonphoenix.co.uk
